The big change

Signed capsule updates are the path forward.

fwupd has removed support for the older flashrom update path, so this release uses the manual update process in our firmware guide.

That manual step moves supported systems onto the signed capsule update path, where future firmware updates can be checked before they are accepted.

Hardware disk encryption

Hardware-backed encryption support.

TCG Opal 2.0 support means compatible models can use hardware-backed disk encryption with supported self-encrypting NVMe drives.

This allows you to secure your data without needing to reinstall your operating system, provided the installed SSD exposes the required Opal functionality.

Configurable haptic trackpad

Set how the trackpad feels.

StarFighter now exposes its haptic trackpad controls in firmware, so you can tune the hardware to feel the way you want.

Choose vibration intensity, click force, release force and tracking speed directly from firmware setup.

How to update

Check your current version first.

The current target version is 26.05 for supported boards.

If your BIOS version is already 26.05 or newer, use your normal firmware update tool or fwupdmgr.

If your BIOS version is lower than 26.05, follow the manual update section in the firmware guide.

Read the firmware update guide

As always, connect the charger before updating and do not interrupt the firmware update once it has started.
